Two jawans injured in encounter near LoC

Two army men were injured in an encounter near Line of Control (LoC) at Keran sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday.

Initial reports suggest a group of militants, believed to be 3 to 5 in number “opened indiscriminate fire upon the army’s party.”

“The group of infiltrators was intercepted near Kacchal Post in Keran Sector adjacent to Chowkibal forests,” said an offcial. Two soldiers suffered injuries in the incident, according to the police.

They were evacuated to the military hospital in Drugmulla for treatment. “The operation is on in the area,” said the police officials.

In a separate operation, Army busted a militant hideout in Bandipora. “One AK47, two Chinese pistols, five Chinese grenades, binoculars, telescope and two radio sets were found,” said the Army.
