Suresh Raina signs mega bat deal

NEW DELHI: With Team India’s much-awaited skirmish against South Africa set to begin on Friday with the first T20 clash in Dharamshala, senior India batsman Suresh Raina has got into the groove by signing a mega deal. The player has signed a bat sponsorship agreement with a leading tyre manufacturing company for a hefty amount which, according to industry sources is, between Rs 10 to 12 crore.

Raina, the only Indian cricketer to have scored a century in each of the three formats of the game, has signed the deal with CEAT for three years. Raina’s marketing company, IOS Sports and Entertainment Pvt Ltd, which facilitated the deal said that they were planning to sign another deal with another major company for Raina’s apparels.

Raina’s earlier bat and apparel deals were with a leading sports equipment manufacturing brand and the contract expired in August.

“Many corporates had shown interest in Raina but he wanted to have an active brand for the deal. This is the first time that CEAT has entered into a bat deal with a cricketer,” Neerav Tomar, CEO of IOS, told TOI.

CEAT had in the past been associated with the cricket rankings of the ICC.
