National level woman footballer dies of dengue

National woman footballer Poonam Chauhan has died of dengue during her treatment at a private hospital here. She was 29 years old.

Poonam, who played for the Indian football team in 2010, passed away on Tuesday night. She was admitted to the hospital about a week ago.

She was a part of the team that had won a gold medal at the South Asian games. She also played for the Uttar Pradesh state football team and was one of its most crucial members

Poonam was currently working as a football trainer at Varanasi’s Sigra stadium.
