Justice Karnan released from Kolkata’s Presidency jail

Former Calcutta High Court judge C.S. Karnan was released from the Presidency jail in Kolkata on Wednesday after serving a six-month prison term awarded by the Supreme Court for contempt of court.

Justice Karnan was lodged in the jail on June 21 after the West Bengal police arrested him in Coimbatore the previous night. The judge retired on June 12.
