Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s Twitter, Pinterest accounts hacked

Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg’s Twitter and Pinterest accounts were hacked over the weekend. A hacker group by the name of OurMine Team claimed to have gained access to Zuckerberg’s social media accounts via Twitter. The group’s Twitter account has been suspended, for now.

Although the reports have not been able to verify the details as to how the group managed to hack Zuckerberg’s accounts, OurMine Team claims the hack was made possible using the LinkedIn password dump that happened few weeks ago.

For those unaware, LinkedIn last month said it is invalidating user accounts after noticing that a set of data including the email and hashed passwords of around 100 million users have been released. The password breach happened back in 2012. It is likely that the leaked data included the ID and password of the Facebook CEO’s LinkedIn account and that Zuckerberg used the same password for its other accounts as well. The password was “dadada” as per the hacking group. OurMine Team even claimed to have gained access to the Facebook CEO’s Instagram account. However, Facebook later confirmed that Zuckerberg’s Instagram account was untouched. “No Facebook systems or accounts were accessed,” a Facebook spokesperson told VentureBeat website in a statement. “The affected accounts have been re-secured.”

Recently it was reported that Facebook secretly recorded people’s conversations without any proper disclosure. However, the social media giant later confirmed that the company does not hijack into the smartphone’s microphone to display ads or to modify user’s preferences in News Feed.
