Kerala Congress MLA M Vincent arrested for rape

The Kerala police on Saturday arrested Congress MLA M Vincent, against whom rape charges were raised by a 51-year-old woman.

The police team-led led by Neyyatinkara DSP B Harikumar arrived at the legislator’s hostel here around 12.40 pm and left after more than three hours of questioning. He later was taken to police club at Peroorkada for further interrogation and then arrested.

“We need to have assembly speaker’s permission to arrest a legislator. Since we had permission only to interrogate the MLA, so he was taken to police club,” a senior police officer said, adding, “And in the meantime we secured permission from the speaker.”
